A thriving local art community is the backbone of a town’s culture. When painters, sculptors, photographers, and other creatives have the freedom to collaborate and express themselves, the whole population benefits. Public spaces are beautified, the town develops an identity, and everyone can enjoy events hosted by artists and expand their own horizons. To foster this kind of environment, it’s important to go out and support art whenever possible! So, we’ve compiled a list of the best places to experience art in Bentonville, AR.
1. Art On The Square
If you’re strolling around downtown Bentonville on a humid
Saturday evening, you may have noticed a large, blue building on the corner of
East Central Avenue with a Coca-Cola sign painted on it. This is the home of
Art On The Square. Art On The Square, voted “Best Art Gallery in NW Arkansas,”
features 12 of the region’s most talented creative minds and displays their
work in changing exhibitions.
Some of these artists include Lori Weeks, who is known for her impressionistic
paintings of poppy fields and her use of unconventional color schemes and
textures, and James Hayes, a native of Pine Bluff who specializes in
glassblowing. Matt Coburn, the curator of Art On The Square, created the
gallery as a space for local artists to share their work, and in the process,
he created a must-visit for whenever you’re in Bentonville.
2. Art & Soul Studios
Art is often referred to as a way to empower others, and Art
& Soul exemplifies this idea. Owned and run by women, Art & Soul is a
studio of abstract art and features pieces in the mediums of acrylic pour
painting, resin art, water marbling, and alcohol ink.
While their gallery possesses some truly breathtaking pieces, the true
experience offered by Art & Soul is the ability for guests to produce their
own art and, as stated in Art & Soul’s mission statement, find their inner
artist. They host painting classes for all skill levels and all ages, and
everyone is welcome to their family-oriented atmosphere. You can also have your
birthday party there, so just ask if they allow cake. We have a feeling it
won’t be a problem!
3. Imagine Studios
This next spot is the perfect place to go for those who want to get their hands dirty. Imagine Studios allows you to do exactly that – imagine. Guests can attend pottery classes where they can create their own cups and vases, or they can choose to paint pre-made pieces and add their own flair to them. Imagine Studios is a great spot for both kids’ and adults’ birthday parties, and we know you’ll enjoy every minute!
