Slaughter Pen Hollow Trail

Slaughter Pen Hollow is a network of several unpaved trails also accessible from the North Bentonville trailhead. This trail, best suited to hikers of intermediate skill, provides an unpaved 5.7-mile loop known for its gorgeous wildflowers and birdwatching opportunities. The trees and hills give this trail a feeling of being well removed from the bustle of Bentonville despite how close it is to home.


Bella Vista Lake Trail

Bella Vista Lake Trail loops around the titular Bella Vista Lake in north Bentonville. It provides 1.75 miles of paved trail that the lake is visible from at all points. The trail is perfect for families and offers several amenities like a covered pavilion for picnicking and a playground for kids.


Tanyard Creek Nature Trail

Located north of Bentonville in nearby Bella Vista is the Tanyard Creek Nature Trail. This 2.2-mile unpaved trail leads along Tanyard Creek to a breathtaking waterfall. This secluded trail also allows the opportunity for sighting deer and other wildlife. Tanyard Creek is open to the public for swimming so be sure to bring a swimsuit when you visit!


Applegate Trail

Applegate trail is located in west Bentonville and is accessible from Northwest 3rd Street. This trail is 4.9 miles long and suited for all skill levels. It is well maintained and paved with plenty of greenery and opportunities to spot wildlife along its length. There’s even a small cafe about halfway down the trail from the trailhead so you can enjoy a nice break with a cup of coffee before you continue on your walk.
