Car and Driver
Austin Irwin over at Car and Driver gives the EV9 a glowing 10/10 score on his review. He likes what Kia is doing with its newest EV and praises it as, “…one of the first true family-friendly EV options and based on first impressions it’s looking like a slam dunk.” Irwin notes that when they were testing an AWD EV9, it reached 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds, which is 2 seconds faster than a Kia Telluride. He also says the vehicle offers a “pleasantly soft ride” and is as pleasing to look at as it is to drive.

Motor Trend
Kristen Lee with Motor Trend got to take the EV9 for a first drive and gave her thoughts on its many features in a YouTube video. She notes how it presents a sense of fastness and looks good with standout elements like its constellation-shaped headlights. “It’s sleek. It’s simple. There are fascinating textures throughout,” Lee says. Though she speaks about its good looks, she also expresses how the powertrain feels fresh and brand new, and the steering is nice and heavy. Her final note regarding the EV9 is how normal it is, making it ideal for drivers switching to an electric vehicle for the first time. “You don’t have to relearn how to drive a car when you get into it,” says Lee.

Autoblog also got a first drive with the EV9. Mark Takahashi notes his thoughts on the site’s blog after taking the vehicle on and off-road. He says the acceleration is immediate and quicker than most drivers will ever need and offers dynamic handling for enhanced assurance. “The suspension tuning just feels right for a three-row SUV (much like the Telluride), which is saying something since the EV9 does not benefit from adaptive dampers,” says Takahashi. He concludes his blog by stating that the EV9 has the potential to dominate the electric vehicle space, similar to what the Telluride has done for SUVs in its class. “With head-turning style, smart tech and the ability to deliver everything three-row SUV shoppers require, there really isn’t a direct rival,” concludes Takahashi.
